Inner Memories: Visual Passages to the Self

Inner Memories: Visual Passages to the Self

Five of Bandung’s most dynamic young artists will exhibit at BIASA ArtSpace during a month long show, opening on December 19th at the Seminyak gallery. These contemporary artists have been chosen from among the brightest emerging talents from the Javanese city.

The show entitled, Inner Memories: Visual Passages to the Self, is being held in conjunction with leading Indonesian curator Rizki A. Zaelani, who has personally chosen these artists. Each of them has exhibited in high profile shows in the past showcasing a keen contemporary message. Working in a variety of mediums, including photography and installation art, these five artists have already made their mark on the contemporary art world both locally and internationally and are poised to enjoy increasing success.

“ Each of our shows aims to bring the best and the brightest to showcase the incredible scope of talent that is emerging throughout Indonesia. This show will have great appeal for collectors who are interested in the vibrant works that have been chosen for this show, as well as for contemporary art lovers,” explains Gallery owner Susanna Perini.

According to Rizki A. Zaelani, the exhibition features the work of five emerging artists who all explore and experiment with their memories and dreams to portray the mysterious and uncanny character of their spiritual dimension. These artists create a visual monologue asserting the value of art as the vehicle to see and foresee.

Under this light, the artworks constitute an archive that works singularly, from individual to individual, resulting in a dialogue with the viewer where the artist’s expression generates the ability to perceive and understand the real in the fabrication of a both individual and social identity.

The show will run for a month at Biasa Artspace.
